Job Description

Social Distancing Support OfficerDue to current regulations on social distancing, opportunities have arisen for the need to ensure that social distancing is adhered to in busy areas following the reopening of many shops and businesses. Are you available from 10am - 4pm in Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Broughton Astley, Kibworth, or Fleckney Would you like to be part of the team that ensures the safety of the public in these unusual timesThis post is for 3 months initially and may continue beyond that. You will have good experience of dealing with the public, and conflict resolution, and will be friendly, and enjoy working with people.Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe allocated area for any queuing hot spots, people gathering together, social distancing not being observed, issues of anti-social behaviour, other behaviour which may cause concern
  • Note the issue carefully and raise with designated manager if action needed immediately, and/or record in a log for review at the end of your shift
  • Gentle advisory queue management
  • Communicate issues to shop/business owners.
  • Note any access problems for mobility-impaired people
  • Note any issues with signage/barriers and raise with manager as requested
  • Be aware of current legislation and guidelines related to coronavirus and social distancing
    • Skills and experience
  • Able to work within guidelines and with minimal supervision
  • Able to work outside in a range of weather situations
  • Good observational skills
  • Able to keep clear records
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of volunteering at or managing events desirable
    • Successful Candidate:
  • Will undergo an advanced DBS police check
  • Experience of working with the public
  • Experience in conflict management
  • Able to work on your feet for 6 hours
  • Personable
