Job Description

Job Profile for Gatehouse Officer (Nights)Bennett and Game are currently working with an award winning logistics company actively seeking a skilled and career driven Night Shift Gatehouse Officer / Transport Check in Officer to join their Leicestershire location.Our client have multiple sites across the UK and are a leading and innovative transport, supply-chain and warehousing company.This is a great opportunity for an already established transport professional or someone who is looking to establish themselves in the transport industry and progress their career.Gatehouse Officer Position Overview

  • Record all driver details on inbound spreadsheet such as name, vehicle reg, trailer number, seal number etc.
  • Cross check all reference numbers and booking in numbers, ensuring maximum accuracy
  • Using a WMS, confirm the arrival of the vehicle by inputting the details of the trailer, reference number, driver details, and time of arrival
  • Check and sign all relevant paperwork, ensuring a high level of accuracy
  • Check the load to ensure what is being brought to site matches what is expected
  • Ensure agency drivers and contractors are signed in and given passes
  • Direct drivers on where they need to go (loading bay, goods in, goods out etc) and brief them on site rules, ensuring these are followed
  • Check outbound driver paperwork, loads, and ensure accurate recording of GRNs
  • Check outbound trailers ensuring they have been loaded or unloaded according to the paperwork
  • Ensure that all outbound loads are correctly strapped and secure
  • Check outbound load reference numbers ensuring accuracy and then dispatch the load
  • Ensure transfer loads are noted on the WMS with trailer number, reference time, date of arrival and any other relevant comments
  • Support with maintaining the security of the site, reporting, and logging any issues that arise
  • Monitor CCTV for any potential issues
  • General reporting and information logging relating to inbound, outbound, transfer loads and security
  • Ensure that the gatehouse is kept clean, tidy, and organised
Gatehouse Officer Position Requirements
  • Proven skill set in dealing with Drivers paperwork (trailer numbers, reg numbers, seal number)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) - Essential
  • Previous experience using WMS/TMS systems and in putting data
  • Experience dealing with agency drivers and sub-contractors
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential
  • Knowledge of a Transport yard and working around HGVs
  • Knowledge of safe movements and strapping of HGVs and outbound loads
Gatehouse Officer Position Remuneration
  • Salary DOE - £20,000 - 25,000
  • 4 on 4 off 6pm - 6am
  • 20 days + bank holidays
