They are the UK leading manufacturers of sports goals and netting with a prestigious worldwide client base and a Horticultural division which isexperiencing significant growth and is now a leader in its own market.The role:As a Production Engineer working with their Design Engineering team, you will be recommending and implementing effective optimal manufacturing processes. You will co-ordinate, implement and help manage new products for both internal and external third-partymanufacturing, help lead the company regarding manufacturing technology and process, monitor/measure and report manufacturing output improvements.Key responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Be the company expert concerning manufacturing technology and processes.
  • Assist with specification of manufacturing plant to meet business need.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with other departments.
  • To actively lead, develop and implement the companys manufacturing processes.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Provide coaching and training to production resources in all new manufacturing processes.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Meet regulatory and internal company requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports.
  • Ensure equipment remains operational
  • Responsible for management of plant servicing, maintenance and calibration.
  • Generate productivity and quality related KPIs.
  • Assist with project and budget management.
  • Recruitment of technical experts, setters and operatives.
Key skills include:
  • Strong and current foundation in modern and traditional manufacturing and workshop processes, with a bias towards steel and aluminium batch product manufacturing.
  • Ability to produce, issue and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience of Jig design / production.
  • Understanding of measurement techniques, calibration and tolerancing.
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead and communicate.
  • Scientific, analytical, data driven approach, able to demonstrate the intellectual ability to program and help develop complex CNC plant and process.
  • Fully conversant and trained in CAD/CAM.
  • Understanding and practical use of total quality and Lean Manufacturing Methodologies.
  • Computer literate - Microsoft office suite.
  • Mathematical and applied mechanical ability.
  • Understanding of MRPII systems.
  • Understanding of Mechanical Engineering and shop floor processes.
  • Awareness, understanding of and adherence to our clients Health & Safety policy.
