Job Description

We are looking for a HLTA or Higher Level Teaching Assistant to become part of a complex needs classroom, local to the Lowestoft area.The School in question is looking for:

  • A HLTA who is confident in a classroom setting and with the ability to work with young people with SEND in a kind, caring and empathetic manner.
  • Experience in an SEND setting is preferred but not required.
  • The school promotes a calm, friendly and creative working environment for its young people, and would like to find a HLTA with the same educational priorities.
The school supports its pupils with extracurricular activities such as:
  • Sensory rooms,
  • Library rooms
  • Engaging outdoors play areas
  • Accessible classrooms
  • Therapeutic partners to assist the students in their educational journeys
The Role:
  • To engage the students in their educational journey
  • To understand each students EHCP and what support they might need inside and outside of the classroom
  • Ensure that all the students needs are met at all times
  • Lead or assist the leading of the lessons
  • Ensure the resources for lessons are safely stored and available to the class teacher
  • Ensure the classroom is a safe and tidy environment
  • Understand and maintain your safeguarding roles and responsibilities
The Ideal Applicant Will:
  • Have a HLTA qualification
  • Preferably has experience in a classroom setting
  • Confident in their ability to assist in the delivering of lessons to students with complex needs or SEND
  • Have an understanding of de-escalation, and an ability to understand challenging behaviour
  • Passionate about encouraging student to learn in their own individual ways
  • Able to take a creative approach to education
  • Willing to engage in the classroom activities and have fun!
