For this role in particular, alongside excellent technical surveying skills & knowledge, plus, safety management experience, we require the following;

  • 5 years mine surveying experience, or 8-10 years surveying experience in another technical sector
  • Competence in using surveying instruments (i.e. Total stations, GPS, LiDAR scanners, UAVs alongside CAD applications)
  • A mining qualification would be preferred, however experience in another industry plus a relevant qualification (such as RICS membership, chartered status or a geospatial related degree) would suit
  • A background in leading & motivating a team to continuously build trust and improve performance (if youd developed apprentices/grads in this time, that would be advantageous)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
What will I be doing in the roleOur Surveyor Manager is critical to our success. In this role you will;
  • Ensure that survey operations are carried out in accordance with Company standards and best practice
  • Implement strategies and proposals for mine working based upon internal discussions and regular mine reviews
  • Statutory responsibility to ensure that the plans, sections and working papers of the mine are suitable, complete and accurate.
  • Provide accurate apportionment of mine/quarry outputs for calculation of royalty payments and for rating purposes
  • Provide coaching support and mentoring facilities for graduate trainees
  • Management of relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Geological and Mining Central Team, Mine Management Teams, HSE/HMI, Local Authority/Planning, Contractors, Mineral Owners
