Job Description

In every kind of building - from home to work, from the local supermarket to the local hospital - we help to create partitions, provide comfort, protect against fire and insulate against sound.Were looking for an enthusiastic Product Development Project Leader, based at our East Leake site to lead projects through a stage and gate system, for development of new products and systems through understanding customer requirements, as well as leading the business activities associated with cost reduction and product management. If you have proven Project Management experience and are looking for a new challenge, this may be the role for you!As a Product Development Project Manager with British Gypsum, you will:

  • Define Projects to fit with business strategy through understanding the root of problem / customer requirements relative to products
  • Developing complex and scientific information into information which allows the business to make decisions
  • Make a significant contribution to capturing the knowledge of how and why our products and systems perform
  • Identify losses and use modern experimental design approaches
  • Support department and team objectives as well as providing technical support to all relevant projects
  • Actively contributes to developing new safe working methods and to the compilation of the team annual safety plan.
  • Represent department professionally on projects as a project leader / technical lead
  • Lead and direct cross functional members of project teams from Operations, Sales, Marketing and Purchasing
  • Create and develop great relationships with internal stakeholders and colleagues
  • Support Technologists with knowledge gained form their projects
  • Present and report the findings on projects to the PRT.
  • Attend and liaise with the Innovation Manager with regards to Deliverables Meetings and inform him of any issues arising which have the potential to effect the projects deliverables
  • Understand product and system performance requirements through direct customer contact
  • Contribute to the decision making process within the team and department as well as leading the decision making process within the projects allocated.
  • What were looking for in a Product Development Project Manager:
  • Minimum requirement of a Degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g. Chemistry (ideal) / material science) with the possibility of a higher degree in a relevant specialist field or equivalent work experience.
  • Evidence of hands on flexible approach is essential.
  • Experience of scientific research methodologies, including literature survey, idea generation and prototyping.
  • Experience of leading projects in a multifunctional business/organisation.
  • Communicate complex and scientific data into information which allows the business to make decisions
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Positive attitude, results focused and the willing/wanting to network with other departments and colleagues
