British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and has over 100 years experience in plaster, plasterboard and ceiling solutions; theycreate innovative products which deliver meaningful customer benefits.Is this role right for meFirst and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working; For this role in particular we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience;

  • Experience and competence in fire assessments and appraisals. (Minimum Passive Fire Protection Federation (PFPF) guide Level 2 which requires engineering science based degree, and 4 years experience in writing/checking assessments).
  • Knowledge of physics/material science of gypsum based products and systems in Fire situations.
  • Eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to draw logical conclusions based on test evidence.
  • Awareness and up to date knowledge of fire testing standards and UK regulation relating to fire.
  • Ability to represent the BTC on national and international committees.
What will I be doing in the roleOur Lead Fire Assessor is really important to our success and a critical part of our customers positive experience with us. You will ultimately be responsible for the performance and smooth running of the day to day assessment needs of the business andour customers. In this role you will;
  • Perform assessments in line with customer queries, and then follow up with assessment reports
  • Make evidence based judgments as to whether a new assessment is required
  • Comply with requirements in the PFPF guide
  • Champion quality and continuous improvement
  • Witness fire tests as and when required
  • Follow strict EHS guidelines on site, and continuously promote these
