Job Description

The RoleCraft TechnicianOur Building Test Centre (BTC) tests systems and products for the Construction Industry. As a Craft Technician, you are a key part of the team, building test constructions and preparing samples, as well as maintaining the equipment to allow the team to complete the tests successfully. This is a manual role, you will be operating machinery and lifting boards and doors you will have no trouble gettingin your daily step count!If you like variety, enjoy being hands on using tools and machinery, and want to play a key part in supporting our test teams, then this role is for you - its a clich, but no day is the same. Youll be working for British Gypsum in East Leake, just outside of Nottingham.   • A City and Guilds qualification in Carpentry and/or Joinery or a NVQ Level 2 Dry Lining Construction qualification OR equivalent experience in the construction industry
  • A high attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed construction job sheets to ensure delivery of high quality builds
  • An eagerness to learn and participate, and continually develop
  • Organisation skills, self-motivation and focused to deliver within set timelines.
  • The ability to work well as wider team, to meet the building deadlines
What will I be doing in the roleNo day will ever be the same. You will be trained to prepare structures for testing, this will involve the physical set up and dismantle of the structures, operating the FLT, scissor lift and other equipment/tools.Amongst other duties, you will be responsible for;
  • Complying with actions of the annual safety plan, and support departmental safety initiatives
  • Ensuring built test specimens accurately reflect job sheets, and the quality of the work is to the highest standard
  • Efficiently progressing specimen constructions to completion in the time allocated
  • Proactively consider all aspects of job/working environment for ways to improve
