Job Description

Controls Electrical Design Engineer, £38000 - £40000, Permanent, 33 days leave, Early Finish Fridays, Cycle to work scheme, Enhanced PensionPosition: Controls Electrical Design EngineerLocation: Ashby-de-la-ZouchSalary: £38000 - £40000 per annumBenefits: 33 days leave, Early Finish Fridays, Cycle to work scheme, Enhanced PensionHours: Flexible days, total of 39 hours per weekExcellent opportunity for an Electrical / Control Systems Engineer with significant experience in the design of systems for heavy industry to continue to develop their skills in an interesting and challenging role. The role would suit someone from an OEM,plant machinery, power generation, energy or similar background and confident experience of leading and managing your own projects from concept to delivery.As the Controls / Electrical Design Engineer, you will mainly work with the existing product range to adapt and tailor systems to suit customer needs, duties will include:

  • Designing control and instrumentation systems from concept to delivery
  • Providing technical support to customers, sales, manufacturing, testing and commissioning
  • Undertaking electrical circuit design and, PLC programming
  • Creating, preparing and reviewing design, hardware and technical specifications
  • Assisting in the preparation of tendering documentation
  • Application design of automatic voltage regulators, synchronisers, load sharing equipment and protection relays
  • Design of HV products such as generator terminal cubicles (15kV)
  • Setting calculation and configuration of protection relays including IEC61850
To apply for the role of Controls / Electrical Design Engineer you will:
  • Hold a Bachelors degree in Electrical, Control systems or Instrumentation Engineering
  • Be experienced in the design of electrical circuits & PLCs
  • Have knowledge of software-based microsystems / control and communication systems including Modbus and Ethernet.
  • Have a solid understanding of control system hardware and configurations
  • Have a proven background in leading and managing multiple design projects and working to set deadlines
  • Have confident experience of leading development and cost reduction projects
  • Ability to communicate your ideas and findings effectively
  • Work on your own initiative and be a great problem solver
  • Seek solutions to problems independently without guidance
Any experience of the following would be of great interest but is not essential:
  • Mechanical design
  • Electrical power generation control, instrumentation & protection equipment design,
  • SCADA & Automation
