Job Description

The Assistant Production Manager will plan, organise, develop, direct and control the activities of the plant assembly production team to accomplish the short and long-range goals and objectives. This position holder will work closely with the Team in allactivities to ensure the safety, profitability and success of the production team. This includes but is not limited to leadership and supervision of Team Members in a Continuous Improvement Environment and utilising Lean Principles with a focus on Safety,Quality and Customer Responsiveness.Assistant Production Manager Salary, Hours and Benefits

  • Salary, £35,000 - £37,000 dependant on experience
  • 6:30am - 2:30pm, 2:00pm finish on Fridays (37.5 hours per week)

  • HNC/ or equivalent in an Engineering or general Business management subject.
  • Significant experience in manufacturing management in a lean, heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with resource planning to achieve production plan, with the ability to contribute to a continuous improvement environment.
  • Business acumen.
  • Planning and priority setting ability.
  • Must be performance driven and results orientated.
  • Able and willing to change the status quo and effectively champion change.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)The Assistant Production Manager will direct production of plant assembly products. Leading a multi-disciplined team to achieve operational excellence in support of company vision, including on-time delivery, delivered quality, productivity improvement/costreductions, purchased goods quality and delivery and aftermarket lead-time requirements.
  • Provide leadership to Plant assembly to achieve all operational KPIs.
  • Work closely with leadership team to drive operational improvements, order fulfilment, quality control, shipping and delivery.
  • Liaise with sales and shipping teams on machine status in line with the plan.
  • Review metrics including inventories, production WIP, quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and reduce variation in process to improve customer satisfaction and quality, ultimately reducing cost and waste.
  • Strategic planning of the operation to include capacity planning and driving for efficiency improvements.
  • Direct activities of production personnel engaged in manufacturing including lean manufacturing, 5S Visual management, improvement activities and company Business System.
  • The Assistant Production Manager will identify production CAPEX requirements to ensure capability, support organisational strategies.
