Job Description

Assistant Accountant (Industrial)Medical SuppliesLoughboroughCirca £30,000Permanent, full-time roleStudy support + a monetary bonus for completing probation period.Cedar have partnered with a global medical supply company based in Loughborough, who are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Accountant to join their expanding business.The successful post holder will be responsible for providing financial support and expertise including analysing data to the UK industry business to support the delivery key financial milestones. They will work in partnership with key stakeholders to ensureaccurate data reporting to provide data-led insights on costs, performance both present and future.Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Management Accountant, Financial Controller and Industrial Management team in Budget and forecasting.
  • Preparation of company industry monthly management accounts, including materials, labour, overhead, fixed assets, stock and processing of journals.
  • Preparation and analysis of company Industry group reporting (P&L, variance analysis, KPIs, HR, stock etc) in line with monthly deadlines and present to group at monthly business reviews.
  • Stock control and forecasting in line with commercial demand and stock level requirements.
  • Providing daily updates on industrial sales, labour efficiency (by workcentre) and material efficiency in order to facilitate root cause and corrective/improvement actions.
  • Daily interaction within the Industrial environment to challenge variances, promote improvements and support the effective operation of the Industrial entity.
  • Business partnering the Industrial Management team, meeting on a regular basis to review their departmental spend and performance in order to share information and control costs in line with Budget.
  • Develop and maintain good knowledge of the companys processes and procedures as well as the accounting system in order to be able to provide cover for other members of the Finance team.
  • Interrogate and correct master data used in the ERP system and offline tools to calculate standard costs such as material usage.
Person specification:
  • Studying towards AAT (level 4)/CIMA/ACCA qualification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of business finance ideally gained via experience.
  • Analytical approach: ability to critically review and evaluate data to support problem solving, inform decision making and support initiatives.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills coupled with intermediate/advanced MS Excel ability.
  • Ability to present data to support sound and well-reasoned arguments to influence and persuade people to improve performance delivery.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence using an engaging approach.
  • Working knowledge and experience of SAP would be advantageous.
