Provide a safe space for young people to grow and develop. At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we place great emphasis on providing young people with a safe and supportive start in life. Within the Family Services team, we centre every decision around what services would best address young peoples circumstances, and as such, our Youth Hubs are a vital tool in identifying gaps in youth needs. Across the borough, young people are faced with challenges such as county lines drugs dealing, gangs, domestic violence and knife and gun crime. We need to educate these young people about key factors such as healthy relationships, using social media responsibly and postcode wars - and we want to help them develop the educational, social and employment skills that will ensure they are able to succeed in life. The Role:Supporting the Hub Coordinator in the development of the North and South Hubs, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the most innovative ideas on how to best engage young people throughout the borough. Working with young people aged 13-19 (and up to 25 if they have special educational needs), you will ensure the smooth running of the Hubs, overseeing everything from youth clubs during the evening, through to daytime community services for young people. Working in partnership with other services, groups and professionals such as voluntary organisations and schools, you will identify ways to work together. Ultimately, we want to enable young people to become independent and successful in their life choices. With this in mind, you will handle a huge range of projects such as how we can reach people, how we can publicise opportunities, how we can engage their parents, and how we can use social media most effectively. The development of our Youth Hubs has been temporarily hindered by COVID-19. As we emerge from the pandemic, we must consider how best to engage with young people, and how to address the challenges that they are now facing - and it is against this backdrop that you could find the most fulfilling role.About You:This is a chance to take true ownership of your ideas. To excel in our progressive team, you will therefore know how to engage with hard-to-reach young people and gain an understanding of the complex challenges they are facing. With experience of working with young people in a youth club or Community Centre setting, you will be highly organised, with the capacity to develop promotional content and use a variety of channels to promote services. Using your exceptional people skills, youll understand how to get people to open up to you, and youll be able to work in partnership with young people and their families to shape measures that will make a difference to them. Join us, and you will benefit from the support of warm and welcoming team who place great emphasis on the wellbeing of every colleague. We will provide you with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, and we will be keen to embrace your ideas. Furthermore, we will provide you with a generous benefits package that includes plenty of annual leave and access to a competitive pension scheme. Across the department, we share a determination to improve the life outcomes of young people and their families, so if you share our vision, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings. We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
