Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Youth Engagement Officer for the Youth Justice Service within Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will be working in a well-structured, organised team who are growing their social worker staffing levels.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable working environment with experienced leadership, whilst receiving regular supervision and training opportunities. London Borough of Tower Hamlets ensure that their social workers have as much support as possible,helping them to keep a really good work life balance!The responsibilities of the Youth Engagement Officer includes:

  • Participate in the development and provision of a range of support services for high risk children/young people meeting Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) criteria and their families to achieve the aim of preventing re-offending, creating a safercommunity and contribute to the achievement of objectives and targets set through the Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) programme.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency Youth Justice Service (YJS) to assist the team to assess, identify and address the risk factors associated with offending behaviour in children/young people and promote the rehabilitation and social inclusion of high riskchildren/young people within their families, education settings and local communities.
  • Deliver specific interventions within a service that prevents and reduces youth offending and re-offending by effectively managing the risks posed by children/young people to themselves and others; to contribute to resettlement, reintegration and the rehabilitationof children/young people who are involved with the Youth Justice system whilst working within a whole family context.
  • Develop and deliver one to one and group work programmes to children/young people who are subject to ISS programmes as a direct alternative to custody; post custody licence; or Court Bail conditions ensuring a programme of work to prevent and reduce re-offendingis delivered in liaison with the YJS Case Manager and Specialist Workers.
  • 5Developing, organising and facilitating community reparation placements. Supervising children/young people attending these community reparation placements and monitoring attendance to support YJS practitioners to manage interventions. Keeping records up-to-dateand ensuring compliance and enforcement in line with the YJS breach procedure, and through the Court process when necessary.
To ideal candidate will have:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Youth Justice Effective Practice Certificate (YJEPC)
