Job Description

This role will suit anyone who is looking for a dynamic, fast-paced, hands-on and varied role in an environmentally friendly company. We work with a diverse range of clients from residential, commercial through to construction. Our focus is on creating a service that meets the needs of our customers whilst maintaining the integrity of our environment.Duties include:

  • Performing opening or closing day activities according to shift (there is another WTS Supervisor in place, these roles will share responsibility during operating hours). This includes ensuring daily checklists are completed, scheduling jobs, updating various software tools, and using the tracker system to monitor progress throughout the day.
  • Ensuring that communications between the office and drivers is clear and concise to prevent delay.
  • Ensuring our waste transfer station area is organised and clean at all times, managing the drivers as they tip and ensuring standards are maintained.
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety requirements are maintained.
  • Contact suppliers for bin exchanges, updating purchase order logs accordingly.
  • Ensure that all documentation is passed on to the Transport Manager at the end of each day.
  • Keep the warehouse safe, clean and tidy at all times to include paint decanting, WEEE waste storage, fluorescent tube coffin management, secure waste processing etc.
  • Inform the Transport Manager of any items tipped from trucks that need special attention (i.e. items hidden in waste or hazardous waste without data sheets)
  • Inform Transport Manager of any needs for consumable items in plenty of time for them to be ordered including grease, fuel oil, etc.
  • Inform Transport Manager of any damage to yard plant or equipment immediately in order for repairs to be arranged.
  • Control bins & tools held in yard/container ensuring that we have enough and that we know which ones we have.
  • Monitor and train any temporary yard staff (basic H&S, how the yard operates, etc)
    • Requirements
  • Drivers Licence essential.
  • Ability to use varied IT software packages essential - specific training will be given but this role requires someone who is comfortable with using computers.
  • Previous experience maintaining health & safety standards is essential, training will be given in H&S management.
  • Previous waste transfer station experience is not essential but is desirable.
  • Class C1 licence and/or excavator licence is desirable. Excavator training will be given if required.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Be physically fit and healthy as the job involves some heavy lifting.
  • Be confident instructing staff and working with drivers to ensure the safe and efficient tipping of waste.
    • This role is paid hourly at a rate of £14 per hour. This role is a job share with an existing Supervisor, and the shifts are negotiable between both supervisors. You can expect to earn circa £30K, plus pension and the option to join our Partnership.Enviro Waste is located in Leyton Industrial Estate, E10 7QP. We operate 6am to 7pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays.
