Job Description

The Associate position is in the WCR EMEA Commodities team which covers global corporate clients across a broad range of industries that trade commodity products with JPM. The role is based in London, where certain other Credit colleagues are based. TheWCR EMEA Commodities team works closely with business partners across J.P. Morgans Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), primarily supporting the Global Commodity Group (GCG) by providing credit support for the OTC futures look-a-like business, physical time-swapactivities and precious metal leasing. We provide oversight and credit approvals related to these daily operations, including the control and monitoring of client performance in terms of satisfying margin calls and settlements. We cover a diverse, primarilynon-investment grade, client base with a variety of business models that trade commodity products including metals, energy, and softs. Key products include: Corporate derivatives Physical time-swap/repo Precious metal leasing More specifically the role willrequire: Experience (or a strong interest) in commodity markets and its participants. Strong credit analysis skills. The candidate is expected to conduct initial client due diligence processes, evaluate incremental credit requests, and manage annual portfoliocredit review processes. Strong communication skills to provide concise and insightful credit recommendations. Ability to identify and evaluate key risks that arise from proposed transactions and potential mitigants. Familiarity with financial/physical commodityproducts and understanding of related credit exposure. Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess risk vs reward. Close working relationships with a variety of areas within the CIB, including GCG sales & trading, Commodities Middle and Back office, Legal,and Technology. Regular liaison with other credit officers. Prime responsibility for the pro-active management of exposure to a portfolio of names and industry sectors. Understanding of banking and risk policies and related interactions with various stakeholders(including regulators and auditors). Key Skills and Experience : Must demonstrate first rate analytical and credit skills/judgment and have a hands on approach to leading due diligence on credit and structural matters. First rate project management skillsand demonstrable end-to-end ownership of work/projects. Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, business partners, and credit officers, and to partner with them effectively. Previous experience in a commodity bank/broker/trade house wouldbe an advantage. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). Knowledge of languages (e.g. Mandarin, German, French, Spanish) in addition to English would be an advantage. Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptableto change given the dynamic nature and timing of work-flow. Relevant experience (at least 2-3 years) in roles with relevant skills for this position.
