Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of their Public Sector client based in London for a Permanent Waste and Pest Operations ManagerThis is for a new operational position of Waste and Pest Operations Manager. The purpose of the role is to oversee the waste and pest control contracts to ensure KPI compliance and that Parliament complies with all waste, environmental and related health andsafety legislation.The waste operation requires an on-site point of contact for waste who will also be primarily responsible for the Parliamentary estate to ensure all waste is disposed of appropriately which will include regular walk rounds to ensure there are no areas of unauthorisedwaste build up. In keeping abreast of the waste contract, this will assist in keeping pest control in alignment to minimise sightings and infestations.This role will maintain a close operational relationship with the waste and pest control contractor and their on-site teams to ensure contractual compliance and provision of an efficient and cost effective waste/pest management service across the Parliamentaryestate They will also maintain a close relationship with the catering and heritage teams in particular for pest control and the service delivery teams.Security:* Successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks. This includes security vetting to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level or higher, as described in the job description. All successful candidates are required to pass these checks beforean offer can be confirmed.* To enable meaningful checks to be carried out you will need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time. To undergo a CTC, you must have normally resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years.Responsibilities:* Responsible for the delivery of full compliance with all current waste, environmental and related H&S safety legislation * Responsible for the day-to-day operational waste and pest services for the Parliamentary Estate and ensure that these adapt to changing demands or ad hoc requirements as they arise * Assist with environmental audits and inspections which includes monitoring waste segregation across all sites to ensure adherence with the Waste Hierarchy and Waste Duty of Care * Provide support and assistance to the Environmental Sustainability Team * Initiating and participating in creating and managing budgets, report writing and project work to improve waste and pest performance. * Attend regular meetings with Pest and Waste contractors to discuss delivering targets and KPIs * Encourage and identify best practice and continuous improvement on the Parliamentary Estate. * Monitoring hazardous waste and WEEE to ensure safe and compliant management of those areas and to ensure minimal pest activity in these areas. Whilst locating areas in which waste is problematic and devising solutions. * Manage the process of waste consolidation, storage and consignment, ensuring all records are raised and retained as required by regulations. * Assist internal stakeholders to resolve waste-related issues or concerns and investigate complaints. To ensure the contractor maintains waste consolidation site tidiness and bins capacity, and to ensure that where waste has been fly-tipped or inappropriatelydisposed of, the contractor site supervisor advises on correct disposal and clean up * Lead front line waste/pest contractors to contribute towards the achievement of Parliaments goals and objectives and delivery of high-quality services to all stakeholders. * Management of 3rd party waste and pest control contracts including raising purchase orders, variation orders, budget control and forecast. Maintaining the record keeping of waste transfer documentation in compliance with statutory requirements * Manage the pest control contract, which includes rodent control, heritage damaging pests plus insect control units. * Liaising with the catering department and its external Food Hygiene Advisors to maintain the highest standards of control in line with the requirements of Parliaments in-house Food Safety Management System and with industry best practice at all times. * Work with the catering team to review the contractors monthly reporting and work to make improvements and ensure KPI/SLA compliance.Acorn by Synergie acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
