The SDEC/AAU is an area designed to streamline the medical admission process for patients. The Ward managers lead a team of staff equipped with acute medical skills and a Matron who supports the area. The patients turnover is fast pace with a maximum 24hours length of stay. Patient requiring long term care are transferred to speciality ward as soon as beds are available.We care for patients with a variety of acute medical conditions and occasionally surgical conditions. It is essential that all staff is supported to extend their knowledge and skills in all aspects of the acute care of medical patients. It is vital thatthe holistic aspect of patients care is not compromised by the fast pace and that patients are included in all care decisions and that their privacy and dignity are respected at all times.The main element of the role is to assist the Ward Managers and Nurses with general ward administration/clerical duties to ensure the smooth running of the unit as required. You will be the first point of contact for patients, their friends and familiesand ensuring that messages are passed appropriately and in a timely manner. To register patient details on ICARE ensuring a high level of data accuracy. To deal with written and telephone enquiries for the unit as appropriate, answer phone, cancellation e-mails,post, date stamping, photocopying, scanning- ensuring referral letters are sent/taken to the appropriate departments. Ordering all stocks for services within the site. General filing duties as required. To be aware of Trust Complaints Procedures and be ableto act accordingly and assist in the process of obtaining medical notes when required and maintaining confidentiality at all times.We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, assertive and compassionate individual who is ready to take up this challenge in a very busy department.
