Walking and Cycling Project Manager £48,805 per annum (pro-rata to £29,283)18 Month Part-time Contract (3 days)Who we are London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is the organisation that the Mayor of London has set up to drive the regeneration of the area of east London around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.This means that we do many different things, from building new homes, schools, universities, cultural institutions and business premises; to managing a beautiful Park and fantastic sporting venues; to running community events and sports programmes.To do all this we work with our wider family and use our shared resources across our group. Your role will therefore be central to our mission as an organization as well as the other group organisations.We are making Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the vibrant communities surrounding into an attractive and inspiring place where people come together to achieve great things; a place where local talent is celebrated and the benefits of regeneration can be shared by all; and a place that attracts investment, improving local lives as well as driving national economic growth.A total of 32 million people have visited the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park since it reopened after the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. An additional 40,000 jobs are expected to be created on the park by 2025, plus 33,000 new homes in the wider Stratford area by 2036, including the London Legacy Development Corporation’s developments at Chobham Manor, East Wick, Sweetwater, Pudding Mill, Bridgewater, Stratford Waterfront and Hackney Wick.The London Legacy Development Corporation is also entering into an exciting period with the construction of the East Bank project – a new powerhouse of culture, education, innovation and growth – which will create sites at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for Sadler’s Wells, BBC Music and the V&A (in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution), as well as the University of the Arts Londons London College of Fashion and the University College London.What we are looking for We are looking for a talented individual to assist the Design Team within the Development Directorate to deliver a programme of walking and cycling projects across the LLDC area. These are exciting projects with the opportunity to deliver existing programme of small capital works and provide technical highways/public realm design advice.You will work proactively to deliver the programme by scoping walking and cycling interventions and seeking/securing further TfL / S106 / CIL funding, where available. You will need to engage with stakeholders and landowners to secure permissions for project covering relevant health and safety requirements.Who we are looking for The ideal candidate will have demonstrable understanding or experience of working on small to medium sized walking and cycling projects in the built environment. You will have experience and technical knowledge of highway/public realm design and management focused on walking and cycling. Current knowledge of highway authority design requirements (e.g., LCDS, Department of Transport guidance). Experience and understanding of the UK planning system would be desirable. You will also have a solid understanding of the principles of project management, risk assessments and funding application processes.
