Combining the expertise of both companies will also make E.ON a pioneer in developing new and innovative energy solutions and attract the brightest minds in the energy sector.Job description:As a Vendor Manager you’ll look to optimise the CES supply chain to maximise that supply chain’s flexibility and performance and to control risk. The role has primary accountability for in-flight supplier relationship and contract management, and acts as a central point of contact between vendors, business stakeholders and procurement.Key responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with UK Procurement category managers and others to develop CES supplier and contractor base in terms of capability, quality and reach. This includes maintaining an awareness of UK industry supply options.
  • Act as central day-to-day liaison between UK Procurement and individual CES operational/delivery/sales teams to support an effective and co-ordinated working relationship.
  • Ensure timely in-flight quality assessment and assurance of CES suppliers, including performance, quality and HSSE (in conjunction with UK HSSE team)
  • Identify and predict potential issues with the vendor’s ability to deliver on time and in budget and then engage with the vendor to agree an appropriate rectification plan. Set clear expectations of senior vendor staff and hold them to account for delivery.
  • Use expertise in either services, operations or manufacturing processes to devise, draft and negotiate contract schedules, where required, containing clear, concise, unambiguous and effective vendor performance obligations to deliver outcomes required by E.ON.
  • Profile description: What we need from you
  • Experience of managing contracts in relevant industries and contexts, i.e. De-Centralised Energy Solutions and District Heating, Construction Contracting & Subcontracting, M&E Engineering, Civils
  • A good understanding of services, operations and quality management processes to a level capable of having credible, effective and challenging discussions with business and vendor experts.
  • Substantial commercial expertise and ability to realise opportunities and control risks to drive improved outcomes.
  • Good understanding of contractual language and contract law and uses this to draft clear, unambiguous and legally enforceable contractual obligations as well as identifying situations where potential obligations on E.ON could be overly onerous or create undue business risks.
  • Effective management of complex contracts without the need for support. Has sufficient knowledge of the subject matter to have credible and where necessary challenging discussions with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Ability to be able to challenge external Directors and hold them to account for vendor performance, to then challenge poor performance and negotiate improvement plans
  • Understands the advantages and limitations of alternative performance management / remedy methods and selects the most appropriate.
