The Pearson Licence Agreement enables Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) around the world to validate, deliver and award their own Higher National Diplomas and Certificates under licence, and use the Pearson trademark Higher National. The UniversityPrincipal Examiner is a vital strategic role within Pearson. The core responsibility will be to drive the strategic development and growth of Pearsons Higher National licence provision, which will include internal and external stakeholder engagement and beingan ambassador for this area of Pearsons business. The role will require the post-holder to have a good understanding of how to commercially position the Licensed Higher Nationals, as well an appreciation of ever-changing market factors.This post requires the successful candidate to develop and maintain highly effectively relationships with our HEI partners, delivering a responsive and supportive service whilst ensuring the efficacy of our Higher National (HN) qualifications in terms ofstudent outcomes. You will have the opportunity to innovate and implement new ways to develop the licensed Higher Nationals provision, including alignment with Higher Technical Qualifications and potential content-only licence propositions.Supported by an Administrator, youll also oversee the timeliness of licence renewals, student registrations, as well as ensuring that our licensed HEIs are fully guided and supported in the requirements of developing and delivering high quality higher nationalsunder licence, both in the UK and internationally.Your Key ResponsibilitiesThis role is based within the Pearson Workforce Skills verticalin the Performance Zone. This includes our higher education qualifications business, whose aim is to ensure that Pearsons qualifications are the gold standard in professional higher-leveleducation.
  • Contributing as part of the HN team to developing the Higher National strategy in relation to (HEIs).
  • Developing Pearsons strategic approach to licence Higher Nationals, in consultation with Pearson colleagues.
  • Driving the growth of license Higher Nationals, managing revenue, fees and costs effectively.
  • Working with Pearsons legal colleagues to ensure the licence agreement is fit for purpose.
  • Managing the approval of HEIs delivering Higher Nationals under licence, including review of their programme specifications.
  • Managing the withdrawal of licence Higher Nationals programmes whose approval has expired.
  • Advising and introducing new monitoring systems for the review of licence Higher National assessment, delivery and efficacy, in accordance with the expectations of the QAA Quality Code.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills as the point of contact for all HEIs for licensed Higher Nationals.
  • Contributing to training of Pearsons HE External Examiners as required.
  • Representing Pearson as required with external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and undertaking annual HEI visits on a rolling basis.
  • Coordinating and delivering an annual Higher National Licence Conference.
  • Reviewing and developing annual monitoring processes for Higher Nationals delivered under licence, analysing Higher National programme completions, grade achievement and student progression by HEIs and preparing an annual consolidated Institutional ReviewReport for all providers offering Higher Nationals under licence.
