VP, COUNSELTV DISTRIBUTIONLONDONOur client is a global leader in the production and distribution of premium film and television content.We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced lawyer to support the International TV Distribution team with a particular focus on the acquisition of scripted and non-scripted content rights.Key Accountabilities:* To negotiate, structure, draft and review agreements for the acquisition of distribution rights from producers in scripted and non-scripted television programmes including distribution agreements, development funding agreements, co-production agreements,first look agreements, output agreements, sales agent representation agreements* To assist with the drafting of rights out (sales) licensing agreements as and when required* Provide day-to-day support and guidance for the International TV distribution team generally in relation to specific deals as the business expands* Providing advice on underlying rights, copyright and other intellectual property issues, compliance and regulatory matters as required* Assisting with the development and maintenance of templates and industry and legal developments.Required Knowledge and Experience:* Qualified lawyer with extensive experience working in a television sales or distribution business legal affairs department* Detailed knowledge of contract and commercial law understanding of IP (copyright) and competition law* Proven media sector experience gained in a media-focused practice or in-house at a broadcaster, producer or major studio* Expertise in television distribution and licensing agreements is essential in the areas of scripted TV series and digital media* Management experience desirableWe are open to considering lawyers from either private practice or in-house. You may have had experience working in or for a broadcaster, producer or major studio. Cultural fit will be paramount.
