Job Description

Wanted Trees / Arborist Officer Location: West LondonClient : London Local AuthorityHourly rate £20.32Duration : Rolling Temporary (6 months possible extension)Working Hours : Monday to Friday. Full time hoursAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join a West London Boroughs Green Spaces Team for an Arboricultural Officer.About the roleYou will be joining of a West London Boroughs Green Spaces Team, taking an active role in all aspects of urban arboriculture, including the management of the councils tree stock: carrying out inspections, raising work and monitoring Contractors. Assistingwith the protection and management of the Boroughs private trees through Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation Areas section 211 notices.You will be an individual with a passion for the environment to take an active role in the protection and management of the Boroughs trees. You will be a key resource with a sound technical knowledge and a clear understanding of how an arboricultural servicefits within the council.You will be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative and manage tight deadlines, but also be able to contribute to the interdisciplinary work of the wider service.The role

  • Support the Team manager and Arboricultural Officers with the environmental aspects of the Councils tree stock
  • Assist in monitoring the performance of Contractors in all tree work including the care, maintenance and planting of trees, and to ensure specifications are fully complied with.
  • You will support the Arboricultural Officers undertaking the Councils tree maintenance, husbandry and planting programs.
  • Undertake independent tree inspections on council owned land.
  • Undertake minor planned works and emergency works on trees such as removing basal growth and clearing small branches and trees.
  • Assist in giving advice on tree matters and attend emergencies as necessary.
  • Work in close partnership with residents and stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Constructively take part in meetings, training, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with your own development and that of your role.
  • For this role, you will have an in-depth knowledge of tree issues coupled with strong communication skills both written and verbal. Experience of working with contractors, residents, Councillors and other departments to achieve best practice and retentionof the councils overall tree stock.
