Job Description

Join us as a Trading & Portfolio Management Vice President

  • Well look to you to lead the pricing, execution, and life-cycle risk management of both new and existing transactions, with a focus on Repo & Risk Transformation transactions
  • Youll be using your creative thinking skills in the design of new solutions to the challenges faced by our clients and counterparties

What youll doAs a Trading & Portfolio Management Vice President on the Repo & Risk Transformation team, youll be working with Private Financing Sales, Flow Sales, and Structuring to widen our client base, developing new products and relationships, while focusing on theRisk Transformation business. Youll understand the risk run by the desk and manage the risk positions within authorised business limits, designing and executing hedging strategies to make sure desk and sub business risk limits are not breached. Additionally, youll be:
  • Contributing towards the overall product area trading strategy and creation of innovative trade ideas, and supporting marketing activities through client visits and trade ideas
  • Carrying out trading activities including the timely, accurate, and consistent pricing and execution of the desks product range in line with NatWest Markets policy
  • Completing the daily risk management of the desks books using appropriate hedging instruments, as well as booking and recording the desks transactions
  • Engaging with Treasury, control functions and quantitative teams to drive through improvements and develop desk infrastructure, valuation and risk management frameworks
  • Meeting financial objectives as defined in your performance objectives, targeting a sustainable and robust business P&L stream and risk profile
The skills youll needThis role would be suited to someone with extensive experience, ideally in trading or risk management, with a focus on structured transactions and fixed income products, including repo, securities lending, total return swaps, short-term interest rates, FX,credit default swaps, IRS, cross-currency basis swaps, bond borrows and structured notes. On top of this, youll bring an excellent academic background, or equivalent, ideally in a highly quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Finance or Financial Economics or Computing. Youll also bring:
  • Quantitative, analytical and modelling skills, with advanced knowledge of Excel or VBA, and Python or programming proficiency
  • Proficiency in bank liquidity and capital metrics, asset and liability management, bank capital and RWA utilisation
  • The ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
