Job Description

Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Trading Platforms Application Support Specialist to be based within the London office.Main responsibilities within the Trading Platforms Application Support Specialist position include:

  • Provide application support for all trading platforms
  • Active Monitoring of platforms & the ticketing system
  • Reference data maintenance
  • Trade reconciliation
  • Test, comment and suggest new enhancements
  • Help run the Whiteboard and various other applications
  • Market the Platform to potential new clients i.e. Banks
  • Answer any questions regarding the system
  • Give presentations to clients
  • The initial training of users, both client and internal, either face-to-face or by telephone, in the various aspects of the system
  • Day-to-day support for users, both client and internal, to ensure the continued smooth use of the systems
  • Solving common reoccurring problems with users and functions.
  • Maintenance of data (such as product and contract types, and names of users, log-in rights, contact details, etc.) to ensure information is kept current
  • Maintenance of security so that those people who should no longer be able to access the system are disabled; surplus, old or bad data are kept to a minimum
  • Liaison between the desk and the IT development to ensure product design and development, enhancements and functionality are both correct and useful in business terms
  • Testing of new functionality prior to release to ensure it is bug and error free and performs the function for which it was intended
  • Coordination between the trading desk, developers and IT infrastructure of the release of new functionality.
  • Fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that encourages an appreciation of diversity, cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working together effectively to enable each employee and the department to achieve its goals
  • Communicating in a friendly, helpful and non-prejudicial manner with all relevant internal and external stakeholders as you are a representative of your department as well as the Group and therefore expected to behave accordingly
  • Key skills, experience and competencies required to be successful in this role:Required:
  • Application Support experience within a financial institution, ideally trading floor
  • Experience of working with Equity Derivatives and Money Markets and trading platforms
  • Understanding of a blotter and whiteboard and support of such applications
  • Good working knowledge of FIX protocol
  • Use of a ticketing system for incident, service and change management
  • Excel/ VBA Skills
  • A-Levels / Degree qualifications
  • Desirable / Advantageous
  • Knowledge of FX & IRS, Bonds, and Inflation markets
  • Knowledge of Trayport
  • Use of Linux commands
  • VBScript and Powershell
