Job Description

  • Rocasa Consulting are looking to recruit a Temporary Systems Engineer based in Tower Hamlets London working 37.5 hours per week Mon - Fri paying up to £19ph via umbrella service
  • The purpose of this role is to:Identify, investigate and resolve capacity, performance and security issues relating to the IT infrastructure, including but not limited to the VPN, storage, and data centre.Assist with the planning and implementation of projects necessary to build and operate a scalable and fault-tolerant infrastructure.Investigate, diagnose, progress and action operational events, alarms, faults and service requests escalated from the Service Desk to the agreed quality and targets for resolution, ensuring that all records are updated in a timely fashion, in line with standard operating procedures.Undertake site visits as and when necessary for the purposes of Incident, Problem and Change Management.Participate in and assist with other tasks as required by Network & Systems Manager.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTo help support, develop, and promote the implementation of IT Operations Strategy.Administration, maintenance and support of the IT infrastructure.Ensure full documentation exists for all new and existing IT projects, systems and applications, including policies and procedures, architecture and implementation documents in support of the IT Strategy.Network and WAN operations carried out to prescribed SLAs and stated service schedules via proactive monitoring, bandwidth management and operational coordination.Proactively manage Active Directory, making sure it is clean, organised and optimised. Complete any requested changes having a security implication in a timely manner.Monitor, alert and report on any unsolicited access or attempted modifications to servers and workstations.Communicate courteously and effectively with non-IT and IT specialists to ensure customer service standards are successfully met.Take full professional responsibility as an IT specialist and will be accountable for all decisions taken.Provide out of hours support if required. The normal working hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5.30pm. It is a requirement of this role that cover is provided outside of these hours for the purposes of scheduled maintenance or critical outages. In these cases cover will be organised by the line manager and hours worked are deducted from the normal 37.5 hours per week over the year. Remuneration for additional hours will consist of TOIL, as per the company policy.Although we are keeping direct experience/knowledge requirements to a minimum, we do need you to use the application form or covering letter to demonstrate your capabilities, in relation to each point listed under essential requirements in the person specification.     1. Strong analytical and organizational skills.

    7. The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines.
    8. Experience of providing IT support, using ITIL based guidelines. (incident, problem and change management)
    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
    1. Proven work experience in a network and systems engineer support role.
    2. Strong knowledge and hand on-experience of the following technologies: VPN (Cisco), TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory, LAN, WAN, SMTP, DHCP, Wireless 802.11abgn, VOIP
    3. Ability to support and configure CISCO and HP switches / routers.
    4. Microsoft server stack: Server 2016, 2012 & 2008 , Exchange 2012
    5. Recognised certification e.g. CCNA, MCSA in relevant technologies.
    6. ITIL Foundation v2 or v3 certified.
    7. Producing systems documentation & training notes.
    8. Ability to define and interpret business requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
    9. Keep up to date with technology advancements, with demonstrated appreciation and comprehension of the corresponding benefits, risks and implications.
