City College Norwich is currently recruiting for Technicians in both the Engineering and Digital areas to expand its highly skilled team supporting teaching and learning across the institution. Posts are available full and/or part time, and job shares are welcome for the right mix of candidates.Technician work is varied and follows the changing needs of the curriculum, but a successful candidate would certainly be responsible for the following aspects; Maintaining practical workshops and equipment used by students Preparing workshops, equipment and materials for sessions Managing stock, ordering supplies and equipment Control of equipment loans and booking materials out to students Workplace Health & Safety, including writing COSHH and Risk Assessments Support for College Open events, projects, competitions and shows.For Digital, were looking for individuals who can support digital technologies such as desktop PCs and mobile devices, can assist staff and students with electronic and break-fix equipment, CAT5/6 cabling and network fundamentals, and can set up simulation and test areas. Experience of using interactive display screens is desirable, as is any experience of AR/VR and robotics. There will be the opportunity to upskill in some areas with support from our own IT department.For Engineering, were looking for individuals with experience in a mechanical engineering environment, servicing and maintenance, and preparation of materials to ensure practical spaces and machines can be used. An awareness of milling and turning machines is essential, along with H&S awareness in such environments.
