Job Description

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTPHQ)6 month contractRemote (Some days in the office may be required)In Scope of IR35*APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO EVIDENCE ACTIVE DV CLEARANCE*Job SummaryThere is a requirement for an experienced and security-cleared Technical Test Analyst to work within the ICT Test Team. This is an essential role providing specialist testing services and assuring the delivery of new (and upgrades to existing) business-critical IT systems.The Technical Test Analyst will work alongside members of the ICT Test Team, Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers, Technical Architects and Database Engineers, and other important stakeholders, to deliver a robust and rigorous testing service to assure the successful integration and deployment of both in-house and third-party delivered software components.Key TasksThe post holder will be required to do the following:·Work alongside solution suppliers (both third-party and in-house) to develop Detailed Test Plans (both functional and non-functional) and ensuring their implementation;

  • Produce required test artefacts (incl. Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scripts, and Reports);
  • Working with SMEs, Business Analysts and other stakeholders to elicit detailed test requirements and acceptance criteria;
  • Logging and tracking defects;
  • Creating and executing test cases and manual (procedural) test scripts;
  • Creating and executing test automation scripts (where appropriate);
  • Performing exploratory testing;
  • Performing data migration testing – utilising ETL tools (where appropriate)
  • Performing regression testing (manual and automated);
  • Support User Acceptance / Business Validation testing (where appropriate).
    • The role-holder must be capable of working with minimal direction to fulfil all requirements of this position.Experience - Essential
  • Experience of delivering the testing across multiple IT delivery projects;
  • Experience of adherence to Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid methodologies;
  • Experience of implementing Detailed Test Plans;
  • Experience in functional test execution and reporting;
  • Experience of non-functional (e.g., performance) test execution and reporting;
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira);
  • Experience in testing web based applications, front-end and back-end;
  • Experience in the creation of test data;
  • Experience in defect management and tracking;
  • Experience of implementing test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium);
  • Experience of performance testing tools (e.g., J-Meter, Gatling);
  • Experience of common DevOps practices and tooling (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins);
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet tight project deadlines;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience of working in a secure HM Government / Police environment;
  • The ability to deal with sensitive information up to SECRET, but occasionally higher;
  • Must hold NPPV-3 and SC STRAP clearances.

  • Holds ISEB/ISTQB certification (e.g., Advanced Test Analyst or Agile Tester);
  • Familiarity of Agile development and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence);
  • Familiarity of X-ray Test Management tool extension for Jira;
  • Familiarity of IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, Eclipse) and languages (e.g., C#, Java);
  • Experience of accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe);
  • Experience of API testing and tools (e.g., Postman);
  • Experience of software vulnerability detection tools (e.g., OWASP ZAP);
  • Experience of managing third-party suppliers;
  • Experience of data migration testing;
