Job Description

Our client, a large UK retailer, are hiring a Technical Support Engineer (Site Operations Engineer - Data). The role will have a lot of training opportunities, so you must be keen to learn!Salary: £35,000-£50,000 depending on experienceLocation: Remote, with the need to go into the office in London approximately once a monthExperience needed:

  • 2+ years’ of Technical Support or similar experience
  • Competent in writing and understanding complex SQL queries
  • Experience in working with databases and troubleshooting connectivity issues (drivers/connector, client software)
    • Nice to have:
  • Basic understanding of systems performance metrics (I/O, RAM, CPU, Network stats)
  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud service provider
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing fundamentals and concepts
  • Familiar with Python and tracebacks
  • Knowledge of DBT (Database Build Tools) and Snowflake
  • If you’re not familiar with these, they will expect you to learn
    • Responsibility:
  • Investigating complex problems and giving in-depth analysis
  • Documenting known issues and sharing the knowledge with the rest of the team
  • Documenting and submitting bugs to the Data Engineer
  • Working with Data Engineers to prioritise and resolve issues
  • Be part of the on-call rota
    • The client is willing to train someone up in AWS, Python, DBT, Snowflake and Lambda, so this is a great opportunity for someone with technical support experience to become more technical.
