Job Description

Job Title: Technical Security Officer/ Security EngineerLocation: LondonSalary: £46,037 to £54,062 per annumContract Type: PermanentDescription:To develop, monitor, and control infrastructure security across the university. To investigate reported breaches of security, and contribute to the development of a secure infrastructure environment to support the storage, manipulation, and transmissionof the information held in the organisation.What will you be doing

  • Supporting the Head of IT Security in the planning and development of an appropriate Information Security operational plan.
  • Make a major contribution to the development of infrastructure security architecture, services and systems within the University environment. This will be at both a strategic and hands on level, under the guidance of the Head of IT Security.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical specialists across IT and Innovation and Transformation (I&T) to ensure the security, consistency, continuity, and integrity of all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line services and systems.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of appropriate University IT Security policies & procedures.
  • Investigate reported breaches of infrastructure security and undertake investigations in line with University procedures.
Key Responsibilities/About you:We are looking for someone who:
  • Experienced in the day-to-day management and use of a diverse range of server, cloud, and endpoint security products. Including, Palo Alto Firewalls, Sophos (or related) AV solutions, mail filtering, scanning services, exchange and exchange online, Windows10 endpoints, windows servers.
  • CISM and/or CISSP training and certification, ISO27001, PCI/DSS, Cyber Essentials experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in an information security team operating across a diverse and complicated organisation.
  • Educated to degree or equivalent professional qualification.
