This a real opportunity to put your Audit and Financial Reporting knowledgeto use in a different kind of working environment in this varied and interesting role. If you are not currently working in a Technical role, full training will be provided. The role offers a high degree of flexible working, a positive and supportive working environment in high end offices. As a Technical Manager, you will play a key role in supporting partners and staff in tackling complex accounting, auditing and UK legislation matters. Reporting to the Technical and Compliance Director, you will apply your technical expertise in supportingthe needs of the Firm. The main part of your role will include performing technical reviews, issuing technical guidance, training on emerging issues and using your technical knowledge/ imparting this to the key stakeholders within the firm. You must be a strong team player able to work effectively within the Department and across the Firm. You must also have the ability to liaise with and win the confidence of partners and staff within the Firm and the Firms network. You will also:
  • Review the annual reports, financial statements and audit reports of public interest and listed entities to confirm compliance with accounting standards, auditing standards, company legislation and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and advice on accounting and auditing matters to the Firms partners and staff.
  • Research, draft and respond to technical queries covering accounting, auditing and UK company law matters.
  • Develop and issue technical materials, guidance and articles for internal and external communication.
  • Prepare and present accounting and auditing training internally and externally.
  • Update and maintain the technical content on the Firms intranet.
  • Update the Firms pro-forma IFRS and UK GAAP financial statements.
  • Liaise with and attend mid-tier meetings and external regulatory events pertaining to technical matters.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of the post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
Person Specification
  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Good working knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS), listing rules (i.e. FCA and AIM), UK legislation (e.g. Companies Act 2006), UK accounting standards (UK GAAP), auditing standards (ISAs), the FRCs Revised Ethical Standard and the IESBA/ICAEWCode of Ethics.
  • The ability to apply the above referenced knowledge to complex financial reporting and auditing issues and provide practical and supportable solutions.
  • Previous experience of:
  • Working in a similar technical position at an audit practice.
  • The role would also be suited to an auditor demonstrating strong technical aptitude looking to move into a technical role;
  • Be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong administrative (i.e. time and project management) and presentation skills.
