Job Description

Technical Architect / Solution Designer / Solution ArchitectOverview:Technical Architect to work on a key strategic Integration Project, we need someone with strong API / APIM and Azure experience.Sitting within the Project team, the Technical Architect will be responsible for the detailed technical design on Integration with APIM (current) and Azure Service Bus in the future.They will have an understanding and be able to give guidance on how to use the tools and technology in the Azure Integration space to the benefit of the project.Responsinbilites:

  • Creating technical designs for API solutions that will meet business requirements, considering factors like scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate tools and technologies for API management, considering factors like integration capabilities, developer experience and future scalability.
  • Establishing governance processes and policies for API development, deployment and usage to maintain consistency, security and compliance.
  • Enhancing security measures such as authentication, authorisation, and encryption to protect APIs and sensitive data.
  • Optimising API performance by improving on caching strategies, load balancing and other techniques to enhance response times and scalability.
  • Collaborating with other teams to integrate APIs with existing systems, applications and data sources
  • Creating comprehensive documentation for APIs and providing training and support to developers and stakeholders on API best practices and usage.
  • Will work with the team to provide continual improvement of the services being delivered.
Skills & ExperienceMust have:
  • Azure
    • Azure API Management in depth knowledge - including but not limited to policy definition, throttling, caching, mocking, error mapping, stubs, versioning, compression and Product/Subscription model
    • Solid understanding of OAuth2 with Azure AD - specifically API scopes, roles and operations
    • Orchestration with Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions
    • Logging and Monitoring with APIM (log analytics, monitor, alerting etc.) and Azure App insights
  • API Versioning with RESTful APIs
  • Good understanding of enterprise integration patterns
  • Proven experience of stakeholder management skills at all levels, particularly with business users
  • Good communication and presentation skills; able to convey ideas, information and concepts effectively with business stakeholders and team members
  • Must be able to work independently on certain tasks, as well as in team environments
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams and mentoring project team members
  • Experience of working in an organisation where Integration function was being newly set up
