Technical Architect

Job Description

Primarily Remote role - only in the office for a couple of planning days every 3 months.An entrepreneurial, global loyalty, benefits, travel and financial services business is looking to expand their small architecture team (currently 3, expanding to 6) to support several key business areas.Although titled Technical Architect, 50% of the time is solution architecture, 5% enterprise architecture and the remainder technical architecture (not development).

• The Technical Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing a variety of Technology systems working across monolithic applications and redeploying them into a Java-rich Microservices environment.
• Working on a range of activities from pre-solution design to leading a team implementing a complex software infrastructure for products such as Priority Pass, LoungeKey, Lounge Pass to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
• You will collaborate across multi-functional teams such as Product Owners, Design and Analysis squads, Tech Leads, Software Engineers and occasionally Sales Teams to provide architectural oversight.
• You will have a passion for quality and attention to detail blended with a balanced pragmatism and an unwavering obligation to question, understand, and define.
• Design Technical Solutions that meet business requirements and are elastic in nature, considering scalability, maintainability, security, and reliability in a global setting.
• Take the lead with Component-based Architecture principles applying SOA with Web Services via RESTful APIs.
• Work within allocated budgets, providing estimates, and costs at a high-level pre-project stage, and monitoring these once the project is in flight.
• Cultivate a DevOps mindset that allows engineers to not only develop code but also deploy it automatically, fine-tuning the infrastructure software runs on, monitor it operationally, and provide a robust service that delivers value to our customers andclients.
• Develop technical design documentation, supporting cross-functional technology teams to deliver quality products and features that meet user requirements.

You will participate and contribute to agile planning and design sessions regularly.Requirements

• Applicants must have a good level of commercial experience as a Technical Architect or Solution Architect ideally gained within a distributed development technology-focused enterprise.
• A natural problem-solver who can make recommendations working at a pace.
• You will have a passion for delivering process improvements across architecture solutions able to work across both agile and structured environments.
• Capable of building cross-functional relationships within distributed project teams.
• Self-driven and constantly striving to improve technical solutions by working collaboratively.
• Persuasive communication and presentation skills targeting stakeholders at all levels to understand their technical architectural needs on a global business scale.
• Previous delivery of software solutions in Travel, Retail, and Financial Services is desirable.
• Proven experience working with unit testing frameworks, and integration testing.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps processes and tools blended with the experience of building SOA architectures (especially Microservices).

• Knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF and AWS Cloud Certification is beneficial, or you will be willing to undertake professional certified training.
