Job Description

Team Manager - Transitions to Independence How youll make a differenceFollowing substantial investments across Integrated Childrens Services; this newly created Team Manager position is being sought to work in collaboration with the fellow Team Managerwithin the Transitions to Independence team as we further enhance our services.You will manage, direct and support staff to work in partnership with young people between 16 and 25, equipping them with the skills they need to ensure young people live in happy,healthy and safe homes and develop their independence skills. You will also be working Our young people are clear in what they want and need from us and they say "be ambitious for us, be our voice and advocate, give us better mental health support, be patient,and help us become independent". By joining our transitions to independence team and supporting them to achieve these wants and needs for our young people, you will be have the opportunity to make a lasting difference.You will promote South GloucestershireCouncils promises to care leavers: Provide young people with safe homes to live in Provide young people with the support to do well in education Support young people to find meaningful employment Listen to what has happened in young peoples lives Be honestabout the things young people have been through and the care they have received Help young people to develop good relationships with people they care for Provide young people with support & opportunities to enjoy their lives Provide the support needed foryoung people to become independent at the right time for them Resolve any difficulties young people may have when living independently.What will you be doing In this role you will also supervise senior social workers, social workers, personal advisors andan EET co-ordinator You will ensure robust management oversight and good quality performance Using skills in problem solving you will make important decisions with confidence and managing complex risk You will work with a genuine passion to work collaborativelywith young people and their families to meet their goals and aspirations You will ensure that staff are supporting young people in all areas of their pathway planning (health and mental health, education, managing accommodation options, money and developingindependent living skills and developing and managing their relationships). This needs to be relationship-based, and trauma informed work in supporting young people who are often dealing with significant risks and challenges around achieving independence andtransitioning into adulthood. You will also maintain close relationships with other agencies relevant to the young person.What we need from you You will have relevant professional qualification and experience in a relevant setting, such as Corporate Parentingor Social Care that must include experience of management of staff, and supervision of other professionals. You will be able to evidence your ability to lead teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care services for children.
