Job Description

SEND Teaching Assistant - Visual Impairment and Braille Support (Year 3)Must have experience and skills in supporting with BrailleLocation: Tower Hamlets, LondonContract Type: Full-Time, long-term role 5 days a week, Mon to FriStart Date: January 2024Sanza Teaching Agency are working with a warm and supportive primary school located in Tower Hamlets, dedicated to providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all our students. Our commitment to personalized education extends to every child,including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team and support a young child in Year 3 with visual impairment.Role Overview:As a SEND Teaching Assistant specialising in Visual Impairment Support, you will play a crucial role in creating an accessible and inclusive learning environment for a Year 3 student with visual impairment. Working closely with the class teacher and theschools SEND Coordinator, you will provide tailored support to ensure the child can fully participate in all aspects of school life.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to the identified student with visual impairment, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Adapt and create resources to facilitate the childs learning, incorporating Braille as needed.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff members to implement strategies that promote the childs independence and social inclusion.
  • Support the child during transitions between activities and locations within the school.
  • Liaise with parents, external specialists, and the schools SEND team to ensure a holistic and cohesive approach to the childs education.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEND setting.
  • Proficient in Braille and experienced in using Braille materials.
  • Understanding of visual impairment and its impact on a childs learning experience.
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching methods to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
