Pay: MPS/UPS (including Fringeallowance) Start Date: September 2021We are seeking to appoint anoutstanding teacher of Modern Foreign Languages who can deliver Spanish to ALevel and French to at least GCSE level. Languages are an integral part of thecore curriculum at Wilmington Grammar School for Girls. Our MFL Departmentplaces a strong emphasis on authentic and confident communication in the targetlanguage by building a broad and secure knowledge of linguistic structures aspart of our carefully designed curriculum. Students follow an intensive courseof either Mandarin or French in Year 7, before starting Spanish as a secondlanguage in Year 8. All students continue with one language at GCSE, with anincreasing number of students opting to take two languages. Our recruitment atA Level has developed considerably over the past few years and continues togrow. The ideal candidate will bepassionate about teaching our students the skills they need to both maximiseexam success and to develop the linguistic competencies needed to compete in anincreasingly globalised world. We are looking for someone whose inspiringteaching can spark students passion for languages and the culture of thecountries in which they are spoken, and help students to lead successful futurelives. The ability to extend students engagement beyond the school day throughextra-curricular activities would be an advantage. The post is suitable foreither a Newly Qualified Teacher or an experienced practitioner. The department attained strongresults in all three languages at GCSE last year and we expect this strongachievement to continue this year as our current Year 11 and Year 13 studentshave made excellent progress.
