Job Description

An opportunity has arisen in Greewnich for a Teacher of History to join the Humanities Faculty at a well-established 11-18 Academy. This is one of the most over-subscribed schools in the borough with a long and distinguished history. It has a very inclusiveand diverse community with over 40 languages spoken and is truly representative of the areas rich multi-cultural heritage. This is a part-time, permanentopportunity to commence in January 2024.The school has over 1600 pupils in total and over 200 members of staff. The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre which in 2018 marked the completion of a huge expansion project. Inspectors judged the school to be Good in all phases in its mostrecent inspection, May 2019.You will be responsible for teaching History at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. You will be a teacher, delivering consistently good and outstanding lessons, an excellent team player with the highest standards of professionalism and expectations of students. You willhave up to date subject knowledge and a track record of success in maximising student progress across all key stages.History is a very successful and high achieving department with excellent results, with students achieving 75% 9-4 at GCSE and 100% A*-C at A-Level.The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Successful teaching experience in a high achieving secondary school
  • Ability to teach History to KS5
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students learning effectively
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
