Job Description

WHAT WE DO The Supported Engagement Programmes atSomerville House offers a small and supportive setting for young people aged 16-24 who have been unable to engage with education previously. Students on these courses may not have previously achieved the grades they need in order to progress, and are at riskof becoming NEET. Students in this department often have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The department aims to support all students to re-engage with education using a system of positive rewards,bespoke timetables and personalised goals and targets. We require a teacher facilitator to deliver PSHE sessions to students with SEMH needsWHAT YOU WILL DOThe sessions should be engaging and designed to support students to stay safe and make healthy choices.Thesessions will cover the full PSHE curriculum and include sexual health, drugs and alcohol awareness and weapons awareness.The successful candidate will plan and deliver PSHE sessions to our full time 16-18 year old students as well as our short course 16-24year old flexible start students.The sessions should be tailored to meet the needs of the students.YOUR PROFILE You will be a confident communicator with a background in supporting students with EHCP and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.You will bewilling to adapt and reflect on your practice to ensure students are at the heart of your decisions.You will feel confident delivering a PSHE curriculum and will work closely with external agencies to ensure that students have a broad understanding of thesupport services they can engage with.You will enjoy the challenge of working with previously disengaged students and will be willing to work towards gaining a teaching qualification.A LITTLE BIT ABOUT LEEDS CITY COLLEGELeeds City College is part of the LuminateEducation Group, and is one of the UKs largest FE establishments with around 1,440 employees and over 22,560 students.
