Job Description

Tax Service Line Overview We provide bespoke advice in all areas of taxation, helping our clients to navigate the complexities of tax codes, often in multiple jurisdictions, and to help them ensure they are fulfilling all their reporting obligations and paying the correct amount of tax. In this way we help them to manage an area of significant financial and reputational risk and to make properly informed decisions about their tax position whether they are an individual, a business owner or a corporate organisation. We also help clients resolve any disputes they have with the tax authorities as swiftly as possible.Mazars Tax is in the process of transforming the way it does business, as the digital wave washes across our profession we are keen to support our clients by having innovative digital tax solutions to support them. We are seeking a visionary and creative candidate to lead the development and implementation of our digital tax strategy.Job PurposeThis role would be the first specifically tax focused senior technology hire for Mazars, working in collaboration with our existing technology consulting team, giving the candidate an opportunity to develop a tax focused offering. The successful candidate will have experience of utilising new and emerging technologies such as automation to improve compliance processes and systems, as well as a creative mindset to lead on the digitisation of current processes, and developing new propositions to take to our clients. Whilst the role will include an awareness of and degree of oversight of internal tax processes and systems the focus of the role is external, business development and client facing and will include developing new tax/tech consulting income streams as well as delivery of knowhow generating license income whether through the development of new tax technology solutions or through the provision of managed services.They will also have the emotional intelligence to be able to engage with people in our business and help them develop their understanding of how we can link tax with technology, combined with an understanding of whats being improved internally, teams will be able to share ideas for assisting clients with automation, which we could take to market and monetise.Role & Responsibilities

  • Build relationships across the tax business and improve awareness of technological opportunities.
  • Work with Strategic Market leaders to develop new tax technology propositions for our clients, in line with real time changes to compliance obligations.
  • Work with our internal transformation team to make improvements to our internal tax processes and systems (including software).
  • Co-ordinate with existing technology development specialists within Mazars to oversee the development of new tax technology solutions.
  • Work with clients to implement tax reporting technology solutions.
  • Establish our digital presence in the marketplace, through development of thought leadership on the impact of technology on the disruption to tax and changes to compliance obligations, including articles and webinars.
  • Train existing tax team to enable them to talk knowledgably about technology solutions for tax and to undertake basic programming functions
  • Develop own portfolio of clients for whom we develop technology solutions
  • Build international relationship with other Mazars group firms and develop best practice propositions, building on their capabilities
    • Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Holds relevant professional qualification such as ACA or CTA (or equivalent). Demonstrates broad and strong technical tax knowledge and experience, through a background in compliance and/or advisory.
