A global media/creative firm is looking to hire a Tax Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting, newly created role that has come about due to the continued success of the business. The company offers a relaxed and collaborative work environment,and this role is an ideal opportunity for a Tax Professional.This is a newly created role to assist in tax and compliance, including direct and indirect tax matters for the company in the UK, EU plus Russia and Australia reporting into the Senior Tax Accountant. You will be responsible for assisting the Senior Tax Accountantin performing a diverse set of work activities related to tax compliance, filing, research, audits, and planning, with an emphasis on VAT and local corporation taxes, and for providing accurate tax calculations and estimates on company liabilities. The successfulcandidate will have proven administration experience in a professional environment, with an understanding of tax.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparation and filing of all VAT returns and other indirect tax returns for UK, Europe & other territories where we do business or established/registered. Assist the Senior Tax Accountant with the preparation of corporation tax returns for UK, EU territories & others. Coordinate with external tax advisors to perform a first review of UK corporation tax computations and returns and ensure timely submissions. Manage relationship with external tax service providers & keep up to date with the changes in the tax world. Prepare monthly tax and other journal entries in general ledger including any tax corrections relating to AR & AP errors and providing recommendations to avoid issues going forward Prepare/Review Intrastat & EC Sales List, Government Surveys & National office of Statistics requestsUK & EU territories & ensure timely submission. Work with operations on customs issues and collate all associated supporting documents Ad hoc tax projectsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Educated to a degree level, preferably in a numerate discipline Experience of direct and indirect corporate tax & VAT accounting, reporting and submission of returns Experience in Intrastat & EC sales list submission reports (EU & UK) Experience of working with and supporting operational and commercial teams Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills Interest in and experience of indirect & corporate taxation Previous experience of working within media, entertainment, professional services, or technology sector would be advantageous Oracle R12 experience would be advantageous Proactive, self-starter with a high attention to detail Commercially astute, ability to think strategically and comes up with new ideas Seeks continual improvement to business processes Able to work within a team and as an individual Organised with a strong ability to plan and prioritise Intelligent problem solver who is comfortable with both complex data & tax principles
