The focus is on the provision of advice to front office business teams on new products and transactions. It also involves advising on the tax impact of firm wide projects and initiatives. There is potential to be involved withother tax projects such as tax authority challenges, tax litigation and implementation of new tax law.The role primarily covers taxes and entities across EMEA, although there are opportunities to work on global projects and with global tax teams.Job Responsibilities:

  • provision of tax advice on transactions and products
  • provision of tax input to internal approvals processes for new businesses
  • advise on the tax implications of projects and business initiatives (including acquisitions and restructures)
  • co-ordination with external advisers and global tax colleagues regarding cross-border / global transactions and initiatives
  • monitoring changes in tax law and analysing impact on businesses
  • developing and monitoring internal controls to manage tax risk
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
  • Good tax technical understanding and ability to apply practically
  • Flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing demands resulting from tax and business changes
  • Motivated with a hands on and proactive attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • A good team player
  • Ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders, including the business and senior management
  • Ability to deliver complex tax advice in a clear and precise commercial manner
  • Professional qualification (Accountant/Lawyer/CTA) or equivalent
  • Financial services tax experience preferred but not essential (e.g. in another bank, accountancy or law firm)
