Central London, like many cities across the world, is an exciting and stimulating place. However for some, it is a place to go when things have gone profoundly wrong and there is nowhere else. When people are on the edge, homeless, isolated and in despair there must be a place to turn. The Connection is there to be with people as they overcome that isolation, recover and move on to a meaningful, fulfilling life. However, this is not enough. The experiences of people on the edge matter. Their story must be told to those in a position of power and influence, so that homelessness, exclusion and isolation are not acceptable features of life in the UK. The Connection at St. Martins empowers those who are on the edges of society to take control of their lives by:•Providing practical support in an active environment designed to help people to recognise their own strengths, recover from crisis and move on; •Collaborating with others who share our vision and mission not just in London, but other parts of the UK and the world;•Sharing our learning with others, to deepen our own understanding and create a more socially just society for those on the margins.CSTM helps thousands of people every year to move away from, and stay off, the streets of London. Central to our work is collaboration and partnership. CSTM is part of the Core Group of the Westminster Homelessness Partnership (WHP) (previously Westminster Homeless Action Together). WHP is a group of organisations working together to end rough sleeping in Westminster. The WHP identifies barriers to ending rough sleeping and seeks to act collaboratively to address them. The WHP have designed the System Change project to bring practitioners from different organisations and disciplines together to systematically challenge barriers to leaving street homelessness for people with complex needs. A team of systems changers from homelessness, health and substance misuse services will be brought together and trained in systems thinking and experimentation. They will create priorities for action with input from people with direct lived experience. The team will undertake practical action experiments to overcome systemic blockages to ending street homelessness for individuals, and overall. The System Change Coordinator will manage this project, coordinate across the system changers team and report to a Steering Group, ensuring influence on policy in addition to practice. This role requires someone with strong experience of working with people who are facing severe and multiple disadvantage. You must be a creative thinker who is committed to improving services and be a tenacious, committed individual with the ability to effectively manage a challenging project operating across organisational and sector boundaries. For the right person this will be a stretching and extremely rewarding role. So, are you interested in this rewarding role that comes with some really great benefits To apply, please submit an application highlighting that you meet the requirements of the role set out in the person specification attached.
