Job Description

Strategic Communications Officer£32,500 pa plus excellent benefitsLondon WC1 and home-based35 hours per week, full-time (option to work full time compressed hours or part time, 28 hours per week)Initial one year fixed-term contractThe Strategic CommunicationsOfficer is an exciting new role in which you will oversee the coordination of all strategic communications planning on behalf of the College.Reporting to the Head of Content and Brand, you will work on a range of communications projects, using your creativeand innovative skills to execute strong campaigns to a variety of audiences. Working closely with the the Media and Public Affairs team and other teams within the Policy and External Affairs division, you will also ensure that the Colleges activity is consistentand that opportunities for cross-promotion are not missed.Using input from across the organisation, you will help to create and manage an operational communications planner and work with colleagues to deliver content output, whilst writing and project managingcommunications plans for allocated projects. You will also use your analytics and research skills to understand our key audiences and use this knowledge to guide our communications output, whilst creating, commissioning and editing multi-media content to supportour objectives.With experience of using strategic communications to support organisational objectives, you should also have experience of overseeing an organisation communications/content planner and be adept at creating content for a variety of mediums includingreports, social media, email and web.You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to think creatively, whilst being able to organise your own workload and prioritise accordingly to meet deadines. A background of collaborativeworking with colleagues across an organisation is essential, whilst experience within the health, education or charity sector, or for a membership body, would be desirable.This is a new role and as such is offered on a one year fixed-term basis, with a viewto extension, depending on the success of the role and budgetary funding.The Policy and External Affairs Division actively promotes the membership, stakeholders and the public awareness of the RCPCH and core child health priorities.The Royal College of Paediatricsand Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, theCollege influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.The RCPCH has more than 20,000 members and fellows and employs around 170 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices inNorthern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.The RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. However, the College is particularly keen to receive applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, and/orcandidates with a disability who are currently under-represented at this level of the organisation.Due to COVID-19 restrictions all staff are currently working remotely.
