Job Description

We work consultatively with our clients to revitalise their operations, reinvent established processes, and implement future-ready solutions that deliver measurable benefit and improve data-driven decision making.The RoleCharles Taylor InsureTech is looking for SQL Database Engineer who will be part of a cross discipline global operations team. This is a hands-on technical role that covers database administration, troubleshooting environments, slow query optimisation, performance debugging, proactively identifying opportunities for performance improvements, and documenting best practices. The SQL Database Engineer requires experience implementing complex projects, meeting project deadlines, meeting challenges with a positive attitude, and work with a strong sense of service ownership. Charles Taylor is a cloud first organisation focusing on the Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud platforms. The role is based in our London office with an on-call rotation for major incidents and is expected to cover out of hours maintenance activities when required.Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross functional operations team managing and supporting all aspects of database operations
  • Troubleshoot performance issues
  • Identifying opportunities to improve database performance
  • Identify and optimise slow queries
  • General database administration
  • Engage with architects and developers to support technical designs and provide guidance
  • Collaborating day-to-day with engineers, developers, and project teams
  • Implement new solutions to meet business requirements
  • Create and maintain related diagrams, documentation, and procedures
  • Conduct full SQL stack diagnostics to help determine the root cause of problems

  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL services
  • Extensive experience Microsoft SQL SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS
  • Extensive experience with Azure SQL Databases
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL merge replication
  • Experience with Azure Cosmos DB
  • Extensive SQL troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with RedGate monitor or similar monitoring tools
