As a study skills tutor you will provide weekly 1-2-1 Study Skills Support for ArtsEd students on the programmes below who have been diagnosed with Specific Learning Difficulties (primarily Dyslexia and Dyspraxia).These one-hour sessions are funded throughthe Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) scheme and require a specialist with experience of SpLD skill development within Cert HE / BA / MA Performing Arts (Acting / Musical Theatre) courses rather than mainstream academic learning. Promoting and safeguardingthe welfare of young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact. Delivery of individual 1-hour study skills sessions to facilitate independent learning and support students by identifying individual learning styles and strengths(in relation to sight reading, text retention, etc.). Identification of learning developmental needs for students; utilisation of information from available diagnostic reports / needs assessment reports. Creating effective learning strategies that take intoaccount the students individual learning style, course requirements and specific needs Assisting with all study-related strategy building- encompassing reading, writing, note-taking, planning, organisation, revision etc. Ensuring the student is accessingand understanding the course material to a good standard Assisting with reinforcement of course material should the student need reiteration and bolstering of ideas Supporting the student to develop practical, holistic, and integrated strategies (SpLD studyskills and AT) with regards to workload and academic expectations Signposting the student towards other practitioners involved in the students support network where relevant To deliver weekly written session updates on each student to Disability Coordinator.Weekly liaison with on-site Disability Coordinator (re: session booking / student updates). To keep up to date with developments in the field of dyslexia/SpLD support for HE/FE students in line with needs for quality assured membership of professional bodies.
