Start Date: Immediate Pay: KR5 Do you understand the power of having your voiceheard Do you understand that some students need supportto develop their speech and language skills to allow this to happen At NWKAPS we are looking for a Speech and LanguageMentor to join a dedicated team of professionals in our SEND department.We recognise the power that making yourself heardcan have for a young person. We know that when they feel unable to achieve thisthey often use other means such as negative behaviour or withdrawal. We arekeen to develop a range of Speech and Language interventions with a new memberof the team. At NWKAPS, we offer over 20 interventionssupporting SEMH and learning needs. We work to understand the barriers tostudents being successful and overcome them together. We have a team of mentorswho each specialise in specific interventions and a strong leadership team whoput SEND support at the heart of the schools offer. If you have experience delivering Speech andLanguage interventions, or a keen interest in this area and a willingness tolearn, then this is the job for you. The ideal candidate will: Have experience, either at Primary or Secondarylevel of delivering Speech and Language interventions;Have a keen knowledge about SEND and be ambitiousin supporting students to overcome barriers;Understand that behaviour is a symptom and needsunpicking to understand the needs the student is trying toarticulate;Have a desire to work as part of a developing teamoffering a comprehensive set of interventions to our students;Be willing to undertake training and developmentopportunities to secure the best support for our students.NWKAPS has undertaken a period of developmentacross its SEND department which was recognised in the December 2019 Ofstedinspection. Recent additions include two sensory rooms and an additional focuson SEMH support. NWKAPS takes pride in its team ethos and focus onstaff wellbeing and successful candidates would be offered appropriate trainingand support.
