Job Description

As a Specialist Technician, you will provide specialist technical support, expertise and guidance to groups and individuals for taught programs, enabling them to develop proficiency in web design and creative coding.You will be responsible for the day-to-dayoperation of resources linked to the delivery of the Digital Media and Advanced Digital Projects technical resources (ensuring staff and students work in an environment that is both productive and safe), for the maintenance of systems, equipment and for theordering and receiving of equipment and materials, ensuring the effective use of suppliers and contractors.You will not only bring key skills with you but will have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshopsin an evolving area. You will be working with a range of Specialist Technicians in the Digital resource at CSM. This exciting educational environment will be ideal for anyone who wants to be a part of a new chapter in the story ofCentral Saint Martins, and a new era in arts education.Your profileYou should have a BA in a relevant Art and Design subject, (or a professional equivalent) and relevant experience, gained through working in industry/practice and/or education.You must be ableto demonstrate and pass on technical skills to a wide range of students, have an in-depth knowledge of HTML and CSS as a minimum, with fair knowledge of or interested in developing knowledge in Python, Java, Javascript, PHP, SQL, and Web 3.0. An interest inemerging practices in the online space would also be advantageous and related areas such as computer vision, machine learning, VR/MR, and games.You must be able to demonstrate keen independent organisation and self-motivation and be capable of passing on technicalskills to a wide range of student/client capabilities, with an appreciation of the challenges involved in supporting teaching and learning.
