Job Description

HCA Healthcare UK – The World’s largest private hospital group; providing award winning acute and complex care.At The Harley Street Clinic, we provide a range of complex care services for adults, specialising in oncology, cardiology, neuroscience and surgery. From complex cardiac t surgery to pioneering techniques to treat cancer, our clinicians work together to provide the best possible care and treatments for our patients. Our staff always go the extra mile in caring for our patients which can be demonstrated by our recent outstanding rating awarded by the CQC.We have 103 beds in total, including nine adult ICU beds offering the highest level of one-to-one care.The post holder will support the lead clinical pharmacist in the delivery of high quality clinical services and take responsibility for the provision of clinical pharmacy services at the Harley Street Clinic which includes: surgical, cardiac, intensive care and specialist clinical nutrition, . The post holder will also assist in providing Dispensary support for all inpatient and outpatient services.This is a permanent part time role working 22.5 hours per week.   • To be responsibility for the provision and development of specialist clinical pharmacy services under the direction of the Lead Clinical pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager.
  • To promote evidence-based, and safe prescribing through the development and implementation of local guidelines.
  • To provide a comprehensive clinical pharmaceutical service to patients, staff and practitioners including prescription monitoring, provision of drug information, evidence based practice and patient counselling, including participation in daily ward and admission/discharge rounds.
  • The post holder will support the Lead Clinical Pharmacists/Pharmacy Manager for all Medicines Management, Pharmacy Practice, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, and Clinical Governance matters
  • To assist with SOP/Guideline writing.
  • To contribute to relevant practice research, audit or clinical investigations within the HSC.
  • To ensure that hospital policies relating to medicines use are actively promoted/implemented at ward level and to actively promote safe medicines use at ward level.
  • To join any relevant national clinical groups.
  • To deliver an efficient and effective, quality driven, pharmacy service to consistently meet the needs of all service users to the highest possible standard.
  • To develop clinical pharmacy skills to cover all clinical areas.
  • To assist the lead clinical pharmacist in providing advice, and participate in the clinical nutrition provision to in-patients.
  • To act as the pharmacy member of the clinical nutrition team.
  • To participate in weekend, oncall and bank holiday rotas.
  • To assist with the provision of pharmacy related training sessions to nursing, medical, other professional groups and patient groups.
  • To undertake other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the Lead Clinical Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Manager.
  • Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of hospital pharmacy ( essential).
  • Experience in adult intensive care (desirable)
  • Experience in oncology (desirable)
  • Experience across a wide range of clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Higher degree / postgraduate certificate and/or diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent qualification
  • Registered member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (MRPharmS)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
