Job Description

This is a junior-to-mid-level role for a construction lawyer with both contentious and non-contentious expertise.Client DetailsOur Client is a listed construction firm and an household name in the international energy, civil engineering and infrastructure sectors (employing around 200,000 people in over 100 countries around the world).DescriptionOur Client is currently recruiting for a Solicitor to join the existing in-house legal team. The Solicitor will be responsible for providing advice and assistance on legal and commercial matters across the business. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and negotiation of a wide range of construction documentation
  • Advising on legal/contractual issues arising on projects across the divisions
  • Working closely with the delivery and commercial teams
  • Conducting and advising on contentious matters including adjudications and other forms of dispute resolution procedures
  • Participating in training initiatives in relation to legal issues pertinent to the business.
  • Working extensively with industry standard forms such as JCT and NEC.
ProfileThe successful candidate will be likely to have at least 2 years of post qualification experience (there is no upper limit).They will be a qualified solicitor, either in the UK or another equivalent (probably Common Law) jurisdiction.It is essential that the candidate have both extensive experience of contentious construction work and significant experience of non-contentious construction work.Desirable
  • Ideally some exposure to Fire Safety issues.
  • Membership of Bar Council or Law Society is advantageous but not essential
