The posts are based within the Assessment & Support Team and the Safeguarding & Legal Team. There is a further 12 monthmaternity cover social worker post within the Assessment and Support Team.The Assessment and Support Team is committed to driving up the standards of support to Children and their Families by increasing the resources available to the Social Worker and decreasingthe numbers of cases that they hold.The team is responsible for delivering services to children in need of care and support, children in need of protection, Looked After Children and children who are subject to Public & Private Law Proceedings.A key aim isto reduce the number of children who become looked after - unless absolutely necessary. To achieve this we have an extremely dedicated section of social workers, supported by the Award Winning Family Intervention Team and the Award Winning Supporting FamiliesTeam.The Safeguarding & Legal Team requires dedicated social workers who are willing and able to make a difference. Within this team there is a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children by decreasing the number of cases held by social workers.The Safeguarding and Legal Team is responsible for delivering services to children in need of protection, Looked After Children and children who are subject to Public & Private Law Proceedings and for matching and moving children to adoptive families. Thereare a range of in house support services including the Family Intervention Team and Supporting Families Team which can be accessed to provide short to medium term interventions according to assessed need.Within both teams you will feel supported by your peers,there is a low ratio of team manager to workers and a friendly and available line management structure. All staff work flexible hours.Support will be available through regular formal supervision, availability of informal supervision, Personal Development Reviewsand Career Development opportunities through CPEL for permanent posts.The majority of Local Authority officers are now located within our new, open-plan, state of the art building at Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay. One of the key benefits of this is the close proximityto partner departments such as Youth Justice, Education, Housing, Adult Services and many others. During the current pandemic, staff are adhering to government advice and are in the main working from home, however, it is anticipated there will be a gradualand phased return to working within the office environment for some of the working week in the future.Conwy is committed to collaborative working with families and will encourage Direct Work not Paper work as much as possible.Career development is importantto Conwy and there is a clear pathway for progression for either newly qualified or more experienced workers i.e. CPEL/Porth Agored and Joint Investigation Training with the Police.In order to be eligible to apply you must have the Social Work BA/MA or anequivalent social work qualification, CQSW or DipSW. Ideally applicants will have post qualifying experience in working with Children and families, and it would be advantageous to have experience of working within the court arena for the post within the Safeguarding& Legal Team.It is essential that the post holder has the ability to travel throughout the County on a regular basis, often to and from remote locations at short notice.As the team works in a bilingual area, the ability to communicate in English is essentialand Welsh is desirable.Conwy is committed to equality of opportunity and we welcome applications from all sections of our community.
