Job Description

This role will be worked remotely with onsite working in Central London once covid-19 restrictions have lifted.You will have paid holidays and if applicable, be entitled to an annual bonus.This is a 12 month contract with the possibility to extend beyond this depending on future projects.****The roleOur client, a leading, global Video & Social platform is looking for a Social Media Trends Researcher & Analyst to join their team on a 12-month contract.If you have a strong understanding and passionate about social media, online culture, research & data analysis, then we may have a very unique and exciting position for you!Your CV will need showcase your accomplishments/achievements. This role requires independent research managing various research with minimal supervision, and your experience must be a mix of analysis but mostly with insights. Storytelling in internet culture is key.For this role, you’ll need:

  • 4+ years of overall experience working professionally in an online/social media environment
  • 2+ years of experience working with SQL & Data Visualisation.
  • As a Social Media Trends Researcher & Analyst, youll have the opportunity to shape and improve our understanding of one of the webs richest creative ecosystems. For a one year fellowship, youll work with the Social Media Platform Culture & Trends team, which uses video and channel data, and trends to connect the platform to billions of people via marketing focused initiatives and other special projects.Youll spend your days managing a diverse set of projects and becoming an expert on online video culture, sharing stories about this particular Social Media Platforms trends and creators through partnerships with the press and directly through the platforms own communications. You will become an expert at using SQL to extract data from large data sets and turning that data into compelling stories that help understand what’s trending on this Social Media Platform.Responsibilities
  • Data analysis: Write SQL queries to extract, analyse and interpret data around the Social Media Platforms trending content.
  • Insights: Identify and communicate insights to tell compelling data-driven stories for various audiences. Present findings that explain and contextualise online video trends and culture with minimal direction.
  • Data visualisation: Explore data visually at multiple levels to find insights and create compelling visual stories.
  • Ideation: Support the global team on idea exploration, including brainstorming, research, data analysis and coordinating special projects.
  • Skill/Experience/Education
  • BA/BS degree in media, journalism, marketing, anthropology, economics, data science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in online media, research, data journalism or digital marketing.
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • 2+ years of experience in data visualisation.
  • Passion for Social Media Platform ecosystem, web content and digital culture.
  • Fluent English speaker and strong communicator.
  • Desired
  • MA/MS degree in media, journalism, marketing, anthropology, economics, data science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience telling data-driven stories related to web content, pop culture, technology or news, preferably as a data journalist for a large editorial organisation.
  • Strong experience with project management and working cross-functionally with marketing, data science and communications teams.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, data analysis and statistical skills.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
